But I changed the ending so that the man was the god Pan. I wanted to write a novel about Pan, not a man who believed he was Pan.

Sheldon has been called one of the best writers of suspense of the past 40 years. His work was inspired by the early novels of John Gardner, Mark Twain, J.P. Donleavy, and Robert B. Parker, with whom he served as a ghostwriter.

In the ‘80s, Sheldon wrote 12 bestselling thrillers, including Dark Room Lights, The Fiery Room, and The Shadow Kill. He has won many awards, including the Grand Prix des Lectrices de Elle, the Prix Murat, and the International Thriller award, as well as the Nero Wolfe Award from the American Private Eye Writers of America.
