As an educator and founder of the Zero To Mastery Academy, I know the importance of teaching. I know the importance of giving someone a structured learning path, and a clear path to mastery. I learned to code (without having any formal education in computer science) by teaching myself on a BBC Microcomputer. I have always had a passion for making people smarter, and I knew my students would learn things quicker and retain more if I gave them conceptual, structured and practical learning. I wanted to make this the most intuitive and accessible learning experience possible. 

After many, many years of therapy, I've discovered that I was a victim. I was a victim of my parents, my teachers, my peers, and my society. I was a victim of a system designed to make people feel small and insignificant. I wasted years of my life trying to please people, fit in, and not only become a leader, but be accepted by people. I did all of this in the hopes that I could prove to everyone that I was just as good as everyone else, and so I could one day earn a degree and have a great job. But, I didn't realise that I could have the same amount of success without having to prove myself to anyone.

In order to effectively teach you need to know what your students are learning and what they need to know and what their progress is expected to be. At the end of the day, when I look at successful people that I have worked with or studied, they all have some of the following common traits:

However, teaching is a job like any other, and I will and do sometimes need to do the work of a job. This past week was one of those weeks and I started a project to help shape a training course on the right way to land your dream job.
