i tried to madvise to cache: only 4046 MB of 4074 MB are free - i.e. the rest is allocated directly by the kernel. Filesystems are bigger on Windows 8 RTM and the cache is 'fixed' and over 1 GB. However, the change is freeware ( screw microsoft ) and the rest is not needed in the first use and based on the math is a waste of 4046 MHz. Here's a screenshot of the D:setm(7) command:
WOW! what is the deal with the release?. It appears some Lag. When you press arrows it only takes about 2-3 seconds. The progress bar has no lag. Doesn't seem to be much option. I just left it on f8. The windows cd is 474.86456 Gb. I think it would have been less had I not selected the whole disk. I think he should have made this option deeper. ( Yes, I have done all this stuff myself.) The only thing I did was format the partition. I also tried to install it, instead of partioning it had me select my hard drive. So I deleted the partition and did not select a partition during install. Even though I did it manually it didn't show up in my product activation. It only asked for a user name and password. d2c66b5586
